- It would seem that most(all?) of the Amiga MPEG players do stem from the
- "standard" MPEG source code, which is based on UNIX/X machines, but the
- MPEG decoders I have seen on Amigas *have* been incredibly optimized
- for Amiga use. How do I know this? I compiled the standard UNIX MPEG player
- to run under NetBSD/Amiga, and it was *slow*. "jet.mpg", which plays fine
- on the Amiga side, was terrible with NetBSD.

- Ironically enough, UNIX/X is far from the ideal platform to perform software
- decoding of MPEG streams. It works well on a P75 though - ~10 fps for
- RedsNightmare.mpg.
